My Dear Sophy by Kimberly Truesdale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A prequel to Jane Austen's Persuasion. How did Mrs and Admiral Croft met? This is a delightful telling of that tale. As the daughter of a Doctor situated in the town of Milverton and with two younger brothers Edward and Frederick her daily life is fairly predictable. Until Captain Conrad Croft returns to visit his parents.

A Jane Austen Daydream by Scott D. Southard
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A mainly fictionalised account of Jane Austen' life interspersed with quotes from her books and the introduction of the author into the narrative neither of which I care for in any book.

Mr. & Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy: Two Shall Become One- Pride and Prejudice Continues by Sharon Lathan
My rating: 1 of 5 stars
A sequel to the 2005 (very bad) Pride and Prejudice movie. The 1980 mini series starring Elizabeth Garvie and David Rintoul as Elizabeth and Darcy is my favourite.
There is too much sex and not enough plot or character development

Pemberley Weddings by Renata McMann
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
A short story of how Darcy tries to trick Elizabeth Bennet into marriage so as to unite Bingley and Jane.
I believe the story could have been a lot better if if was longer as I felt that the writing was too abrupt in places

Fitzwilliam Darcy such I was by Carol Cromlin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
How did the character of Darcy come about? What was his life like before he met Elizabeth Bennet? Here we read of the life of Fitzwilliam Darcy, of his parents, of Pemberley, his cousin Fitzwilliam and of course Wickham. Including his time at university where he meets a Bingley, followed by Grand Tour of the continent, up to the time of the Meryton Assembly. This means that only a glimpse is seen of Elizabeth.

Pride's Prejudice by Misty Dawn Pulsipher

A modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice with William Darcy and Beth Pride. I couldn't really get into the book as I felt the character of Beth was off, and it took a determined effort to actually finish.

Miss Bennet and Mr Bingley by Fenella J. Miller
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
This is a refocus of the original Pride and Prejudice book. With the interactions between Charles Bingley and Jane Bennet at the front of the story. The extra action felt forced to me and I hoped to read of their dialogue but it never went into enough depth for me

Mr. Darcy’s Noble Connections by Abigail Reynolds
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
My first Abigail Reynolds read - a Pride and Prejudice variation which takes place several months after Elizabeth had rejected Darcy's proposal at Hunsford Parsonage. Set in a totally new location (Bentham Park) the home of her childhood friend Lady Eleanor Carlisle. All new characters are introduced as family and friends of Darcy. The story starts as Elizabeth responds to an urgent request from Lady Eleanor, what follows is the story of several couples progression to mutual understanding.

THE INVASION by WILLIAM MEIKLE(Kindle Edition)It started during a winter storm on the North Eastern Seaboard which brought with it a strange green rain. Where it fell, everything withered, died, and was consumed. The residents of remote outposts in Maritime Canada escaped the worst of the early damage, but that was a blessing in disguise, for they were left to watch as first North America, then the world, was subsumed in the creeping green carpet of terror. And that was just the beginning. New life forms began to arise from the ooze, simple organisms at first, but multiplying with ever-increasing complexity. The few human survivors are faced with a full-scale invasion... and only radical measures will guarantee the survival of the human race. AMAZON | AMAZON UK | KOBO

News from William Meikle "BROKEN SIGIL - NEW TODAY FROM DARKFUSE
| ||
Plot | ||
There are houses like this all over the world. Most people only know of them from whispered stories over campfires; tall tales told to scare the unwary. But some, those who suffer…some know better. They are drawn to the places where what ails them can be eased. If you have the will, the fortitude, you can peer into another life, where the dead are not gone, where you can see that they thrive and go on, in the dreams that stuff is made of.

While Broken Sigil is filled with ghosts, its true power lies in how it will haunt the reader’s mind even after the last word is read. Broken Sigil is one of those rare stories that is powerful enough to make the reader think about every word and turn it into something much more meaningful than just another story.- Examiner.com Heartbreaking, chilling and highly recommended. - Ravenous Reads It's a highly imaginative premise and one which is delivered consumately. - Dark Musings This storyline, which begins as a dark-around-the-edges tale, seamlessly runs to full black, and readers have a first class ticket for a rollercoaster ride in this fascinating novella. — Shannon Raab, Suspense Magazine |

CARNACKI: HEAVEN AND HELL by WILLIAM MEIKLE
(Kindle Edition)
In the late 19th and Early 20th centuries Sherlock Holmes, John Silence and Allan Quartermain all fought against the powers of darkness. One other man fought the same battle, armed only with his wits, his science, and his arcane knowledge. Meet an Edwardian occult detective who goes where no other gentleman will dare, venturing deep into neolithic barrows, into the crypts of ancient cathedrals and fighting the elemental powers of darkness on his own terms. Meet Carnacki: Ghostfinder William Meikle does a stand up job here of capturing the tone of the original stories. - British Fantasy Society This version of Carnacki seems a bit more voluble than the one I remember, but horror stories of this type generally assume a more relaxed and intellectual air than most modern ones. It's a style of writing that I appreciate, and miss. - Don D'Ammassa DARK REGIONS PRESS | AMAZON | AMAZON UK

PROFESSOR CHALLENGER:THE ISLAND OF TERROR by WILLIAM MEIKLE
(Kindle Edition)
Strange lights on the moors, weird noises in the night, cattle disappearing; these things alone are more than enough to prompt Malone’s newspaper to send him to investigate. And when his old companion Professor Challenger also goes missing, the hunt is on. The trail leads Malone to the British military, and to a research station in the Bristol Channel, where an old terror proves, once again, that some things are not meant to be contained. Mr. Meikle continues to write outstanding stories, and Professor Challenger: The Island of Terror is no exception, it further cements his place as one of the best storytellers writing today and I highly recommend it. - FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND DARK REGIONS PRESS | AMAZON | AMAZON UK

THE CREEPING KELP by WILLIAM MEIKLE
(Kindle Edition)
Some seaweed, a jellyfish and some material brought back from the Peabodie expedition to Antarctica. An innocuous enough blend you might think. But when a storm in the North Atlantic frees a sample that has been dormant inside an old wreck, the new creature finds that it is hungry. Our plastics-oriented society has given it an abundant supply of food... more than enough for it to grow, and build, and spread. Can anyone escape the terror that is... THE CREEPING KELP? If you are like me and grew up on those glorious nature run amok movies you will absolutely love The Creeping Kelp and I highly recommend it. - Famous Monsters of Filmland The Creeping Kelp would make for a great beach read, and will give you shivers the next time you step on a piece of seaweed in the water. Highly recommended. - The Monster Librarian DARK REGIONS PRESS | AMAZON | AMAZON UK

CRUSTACEANS by WILLIAM MEIKLE
(Kindle Edition)
Giant killer crabs invade Manhattan. Crustaceans is definitely horror, but it's also Science-fiction, in a very 1950's B-Movie kind of way, a creature-feature if you like. It runs in my head like one of those lurid early technicolor monster movies, and readers will have fun thinking of it that way themselves. I don’t think you can have much more fun reading a book than Crustaceans. It is one hell of a ride that will keep you turning the pages as fast as you can read them. - Famous Monsters of Filmland At bottom, it’s a fun book, written to show the reader a good time and nothing more than that, on which level it succeeds admirably well. I thoroughly enjoyed its pulp(ish) pleasures. -- Peter Tennant, BLACK STATIC #31 DARK REGIONS PRESS | AMAZON | AMAZON UK
