In this P&P sequel, although Mary is unhappy she is resigned to spending her time at Longbourn. Until a letter arrives inviting her to Pemberley. Is it fate that on the journey northwards the Bennets briefly met a Robert Ashton, and then meet the Ashton brothers again at Pemberley.
A delightful novella about Mary Bennet. I do enjoy reading stories where she is brought to the forefront of a tale, though my only negative thought is why a curate.

Is an old Calladine case from twenty-five years ago of a missing schoolgirl, linked to a murder on the Hobfield estate, of Rebecca O'Brien. With the spectre of Lazarov still lurking Calladine is trying to keep his family safe, but why is he not more suspicious of new acquaintances. Then Lazarov starts putting the pressure on Calladine coupled with more personal problems puts a strain on him. Can he and his team solve the murder, will their be more, and what is the possible motive. Secrets are there to be discovered.
An entertaining modern crime story, a good addition to the series.

Results in an Elizabeth more clever than canon though still an entertaining and well-written story.

Recently Sergeant O'Hara was stabbed dead, who was investigating the group with Sergeant Jack Kelly. While Jack continues his investigation, Holmes and Watson have informed Lucy of a murder early that morning at the Royal Observatory, under strange circumstances. Did the victim really drop from the sky and what could the motive be.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its very likeable cast of characters. Another good addition to this interesting series.

Following the deaths of her parents and acquiring her inheritance, Bertha Mason, travels the continent and meets her future husband Mr. Rochester. The story of her life from then is told in conjunction with Eyre's until they met.
An entertaining and well-written Victorian Gothic story, blending seamlessly two classic books. With its wonderful portrayal of the two main characters and their story.

A good selection of these Golden Age mysteries, and with each story there comes a short author biography. I enjoyed reading all of these well-written mysteries, though some more than others. Certainly a good start to finding more authors to read in this genre.

But now winter has returned to Meryton and more gentlemen become stranded in Meryton starting with Bingley and Darcy, but they are soon joined by Colonel Fitzwilliam. Very soon they met the Bennet daughters of The Nunnery. The colonel decides to help them, but can they change and will there be a happy ending for any of them.
An entertaining variation with a lovable Colonel.

But Detective Inspector John Feather does not agree, but he has been assigned to the series of bank robbery cases.
An enjoyable and well-written historical mystery, with a likeable style of writing and good plotting. Also with its amiable characters. A good addition to the series, which can easily be read as a standalone story.

Neither seem able to come up with the best solution of the problem of the French code book. The pair constantly clash while she is worried about her brother Michael in Paris on Abchurch business. Unfortunately the traitor is fairly obvious and the story is more romance than a mystery.

It is up to the magistrate, Sir John Bright, and Robert Archer, the village constable to investigate. With Mr Bennet at Hunsford on business with Mr Collins, accompanied by Mary, circumstances make him the prime suspect.
An enjoyable variation but I didn't care for the ending, and I did hope that it would be Mary that did some of the investigation

Enjoyable historical mystery though I didn't take to Posie.

When Mycroft Holmes is able to identifiy the victim the family are now unfortunately involved in solving the murder of Lord Surminster, who was a university colleague of Mycroft. So Mrs Holmes investigates with the help of her sons much to the annoyance of her husband
A well-plotted and entertaining historical mystery with its cast of interesting and likeable characters which are developing over the series. This well-written story can easily be read as a standalone story.

But what we also got was a lot of descriptions about Germany, its people and their actions - worthwhile, but I have read history books for this information.

Too much information about fishing to keep my keep my interest, and Keith Calder does not make an appearance.

A delightful and well-written Pride and Prejudice sequel. A re-read of this story.

This Pride and Prejudice variation short story begins at the Netherfield Ball where Mary Bennet meets one of Bingley's friends.
I felt that the story could have taken longer to evolve but I enjoyed the tale anyway. As an unpublished work any errors are forgiven. An enjoyable re-read.

September 1939 A spate of burglaries concern DDI Walter Hardcastle and his team. But soon a double murder occurs, is it related to the burglaries or not, but months pass without an arrest. Then a body is discovered in the Thames which might belong to a German spy. Soon it is the summer of 1940.
An enjoyable police procedural and crime story with its hint of espionage.

A body of a young female is discovered in a park in the town of Abbeyford by a dog walker. Without any identification, and no obvious motive D.I. Kate Redman with her team start the investigation.
But why is so little known about the victim, what is her relationship to her family. What are her secrets.
Another entertaining and well-written crime story with its cast of likeable and varied characters. A good addition to the series which can easily be read as a standalone story.

In this P&P variation there is an early resolution for Jane Bennet and Bingley. While Collins decides Elizabeth is not the right wife for him and switches to Mary. Meanwhile Wickham is blinded and left scarred by a musket blast. So Mary decides to read to him. How can Lady Catherine prevent the alliance between Darcy and Elizabeth. An Wickham be redeemed.
An enjoyable story apart from the Mary pairing.

1930s in the Scottish Highlands where Loch Down Abbey, home of the Earl of Inverkillen and his family, are experiencing death and illness among their staff. When a body is discovered in a stream.
The housekeeper, Mrs Alice MacBain, is suspicious and investigates. Unfortunately the large cast of characters are a bunch of unlikable aristocratic people. Not really a historical mystery (which I was hoping for) more a story of people not coping or caring when disaster strikes. But how will they be saved. Overall an enjoyable historical story.
