Three years have passed since the murder of Mary Chase but now another occurs, this time the mother Sarah Chase. But what has happened to the two other children. Dr. Bartlett, his daughter Hannah, and the local sheriff John Keynes are drawn into the schemes of this murderer.
It is not necessary to have read Book One but it does help with the back story, and getting a feel for the writing style, which at times does read as stilted. But overall I enjoyed the story and the likeable characters.
