The Hawksbridge Angels by Julian Smart

1848 Thomas Rufford has received an inheritance and so he travels to Hawksbridge where he soon becomes embroiled in a controversy, and then a murder occurs which he decides to investigate.
Quite a lot of unpleasant characters, Rufford himself is not that likeable.
Overall an enjoyable historical mystery.
