Lawrence Sheridan is finally back in London society six years after a fire nearly destroyed the family estate but which had killed his father. He has had to deal with a scheming stepmother and his half brother while trying to determine who had set the fire.
In London he meets the eighteen year old Francis Hudley, but knows he cannot marry until he solves the crime.
The first part of a trilogy - I would recommend obtaining all three parts before reading
