The price of Mr. Bennet's investment in the expedition of Darcy and Bingley to Egypt is that Jane and Elizabeth have to go with them.
A reasonable enough story, but not with a lot of grow up interaction between Darcy and Elizabeth. Concerned that only Mrs Bennet thought it was necessary that they had a chaperone on the expedition.
