1890 Inspector Walter Day and Sergeant Nevil Hammersmith are sent to the Black Country and the mining community of Blackhampton village. It would seem that a family of three have gone missing and their job is to investigate. Though secrets seem to abound the area.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery, with its likeable and interesting main characters.
