October 1941. Jane Treen, Arthur Cilento and Benson are sent on another secret mission this time to Ashbourne Kent, Jane's home village. The naked body of a Italian POW was found on the beach with a strange tattoo, and there are concerns about black marketeering activity in the area.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its interesting and likeable main characters. A good second story in this series.
