The story of Jane Steele (born in the 1830s) as told my herself with reference to her favourite book -Jane Eyre. Yes 'Reader, I murdered him' - the difference in their stories is that she does kill.
The more I read of this book the more I enjoyed it and the characters.
Will look out of more of her books.

Then he disappears and she employes a private investigator to find him.
A romace with some mystery.
Not my usual type of read - modern romance - but I enjoyed it.

Knivet joins the Cavendish expedition along the Brazilian coast in the late 16th century returning home to write his memoirs of all his adventures in those years away from England. This story is based on those memories. He was obviously blessed considering how many time he came near to death and survived. Just made me wonder how much of these memoirs were exaggerated and unfortunately I actually didn't find it that interesting.

This is my first sequel to Pride and Prejudice by this author that I have read and I really like the style. Mary Bennet is now in her late twenties, and with her sister Catherine they are still unmarried.
Mary has been working as a governess to the new family at Netherfield for four years. It starts with the death of Mr. Bennet and the arrival of the new heir Tristan Collins from America, (Mr William Collins having died).
Will Mary continue to be happy as a governess or does she wish for love - this is her story.

Enjoyable quick read.

Not many months after Darcy's marriage to Elizabeth Bennet he is informed of his father's cousins death - Samuel Darcy and of inheritance of the estate.
They travel to Dorset to find that Samuel Darcy's body has disappeared and another body found on the grave.
But then more bodies are found, and some of Samuel's treasures are lost and found. With the help of Colonel Fitzwilliam can the mystery be solved.
I found Darcy too insecure concerning Elizabeth, but the story was still enjoyable.

The two novellas in the book were an enjoyable read - 'Jane and the Vanishing Valet' where they visit the Coates family - the uncle of their ward Araminta - and why her uncle was attacked and what did happen to the valet.
'Jane and the Unladylike Wife' - after a dinner party given by Mrs Stegall she is discovered the next morning dead.
Looking forward to read the next in the series.

Then Lemieux invites Wiseman to help with the investigation. I didn't take to the character of Wiseman and certainly couldn't understand the use of Wiseman as an investigator instead of another detective, and of Wiseman's co-owner of the bookstore letting him get away with not working but using their small profits to employ cover for him.

Starting at no 6 means that there is a back story that needs to be caught up on. Though it can be read as a stand alone.
Dr. Thomas Silkstone is an anatomist who is called in at the death of Sir Montagu Malthus at Boughton Hall, the lawyer for Lady Lydia Farrell who found the body.
What connection is there to a stolen diamond in India and various army officers.
Will probably read the first book to see how I enjoy the start of the story.

Detective Inspector Paolo Storey gets called in by a Doctor at the local hospital to a case of rape - a rape of a man. The man was held captive for 3 days and then released but nothing was reported - are there more cases similar to this one.
There is also the mundane case of minor vandalism at a local youth centre.
There were two points during the book when a person had information for the police but D.I. Storey just didn't have the time - of course these people turned up dead.
The guilty person became obvious as the story is told.

When Elizabeth Darcy hears of this transformation she invites Mary to Pemberley where her friendship with Georgiana, and her adventures begin.
Loved this book, the first I have read by this author, and I will be buying the next 2 paperbacks in the series.
