January 1900 and Dr Watson and the Countess are sailing across the English Channel to help an old friend Inspector de Guises, when they are diverted to Mont Saint Cloud and solve their first mystery on their journey.
On arriving at Brittany they help the Inspector find the person who is killing off his family.
Another enjoyable read.
