Long shadowsLong shadows by Derek Thompson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

DS‭ ‬Wild,‭ ‬two‭ ‬weeks‭ ‬into‭ ‬his‭ ‬transfer‭ ‬from‭ ‬London‭ ‬to‭ ‬the‭ ‬Wiltshire‭ ‬countryside,‭ ‬is‭ ‬called‭ ‬out‭ ‬to‭ ‬a‭ ‬suspicious‭ ‬death.‭ ‬That‭ ‬of‭ ‬sixty-eight‭ ‬year‭ ‬old‭ ‬Alexander‭ ‬Porter.‭ ‬Missing‭ ‬from‭ ‬the‭ ‬scene‭ ‬is‭ ‬the‭ ‬shotgun‭ ‬that‭ ‬was‭ ‬used,‭ ‬and‭ ‬his‭ ‬walking‭ ‬stick.
DI‭ ‬Marsh‭ ‬is‭ ‬in‭ ‬charge‭ ‬of‭ ‬the‭ ‬investigation.‭ ‬But‭ ‬it‭ ‬seems‭ ‬Wild‭ ‬has‭ ‬other‭ ‬concerns‭ ‬relating‭ ‬to‭ ‬a‭ ‬past‭ ‬case‭ ‬in‭ ‬the‭ ‬Met.
Do‭ ‬events‭ ‬from‭ ‬the‭ ‬past‭ ‬have‭ ‬any‭ ‬bearing‭ ‬on‭ ‬this‭ ‬present‭ ‬case.
An‭ ‬enjoyable‭ ‬and‭ ‬well-written‭ ‬crime‭ ‬mystery.‭ ‬With‭ ‬its‭ ‬bunch‭ ‬of‭ ‬likeable‭ ‬characters‭ ‬it‭ ‬is‭ ‬a‭ ‬good‭ ‬start‭ ‬to‭ ‬the‭ ‬series.
Received‭ ‬an‭ ‬ARC‭ ‬from‭ ‬the‭ ‬publisher
