The Dead Curate: Another shocking murder to solve for our literary detective... by Laura Martin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Steventon, October 1798. Arriving at the local church for Sunday service it becomes obvious that it is locked. Jane retrieves the other key from home, her father being laid up in bed. On entering she soon discovers the body of the curate in the belfry, his arms and legs nailed to the surfaces. Jane investigate with the help of Harrington, son of the ill Magistrate. Is there a connection with a similar crime of 25 years ago.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.
