224 A.D. Quintus Valerius is sent to York to strengthen the ties with the new legate Marius Crescens and to meet up with his wife Julia. On the way they come across the murder of young girl Sacra, and Julia discovers the body of Placidia, wife to the Legate. Then they are sent north.
An entertaining and well-written mystery with its likeable characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.
