In this Emma sequel, Jane Fairfax is now married to Caleb Armitage, a Bow Street Runner. This is three stories which merge into one
1 - Jane and the Impossible Lady - Jane have been approached to help solve a problems. That is to determine who a Mrs Fielding and her daughter Cora really are. Are they worthy of being introduced into society, and if not how have they managed it.
2 - Jane and the Deadly Wagers - There seems to be an unnatural number of deaths of wealthy people who were not expected to die so soon. Why is this happening and is there a murderer hiding in plain sight.
3 - Jane and the Dangerous Draisine - are riding draisines really dangerous or is someone trying to kill one of the riders, and if so why.
Three story lines linked together making another very enjoyable well-written mystery in this series.
