Powder Island: the Sherlock Holmes and Lucy James Mysteries, Book 26 by Charles Veley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Nine months after an explosion at his works, where his brother-in-law, Marcus Thiel, was killed, Rexford Gunpowder Factory owner Bradley Rexford approaches Holmes for help. The case had been sent to the Home Office with the result that the investigating Inspector, Tobias Gregson, demoted to a constable in Whitechapel. Now Rexford has received a warning of more danger.
Told from the viewpoint of Lucy James and Dr. Watson.
Another entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its cast of varied and likeable characters. A good addition to the series which can be read as a standalone story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
