James T.Kirk has just been promote to Captain of the Enterprise. Her first mision is to boost morale on various starbases with the Warpspeed Classic Vaudeville Company. The crew seem discontented but soon they are faced with an unknown spaceship and crew, as the Enterprise nears Klingon territory.
An enjoyable re-read.
