D.I. Proby and D.S. Rootham have been marooned by the floods at Hatton Abbey when they were called there because of a death. On arriving they determine that it was murder. Circumstances means that the killer is still at the Abbey, can they find the murderer before they may kill again, and remain safe themselves and the innocent parties.
