The former Jane Fairfax, now Lady Armitage is approached by Miss Esmerelda deVere also known as Ellie Smith, to help find a missing friend, Jenny Black, aka Guinevere Lenoir, in the Case of the disappearing actress.
In the second of the storylines Jane and her husband Sir Caleb, a Bow Street Runner investigate The Case of the Dead Actress - A friend of Ellie's, Alice Drake, aka Alethea Fazackerly was found murdered but the death was not investigated.
In the last of the interwoven stories - The Case of the Frightened Actresses, Jane investigates when several actresses are threathened with disfigurement if they do not pay a price, a price one actress refused and was attacked.
Another re-read and an enjoyable story in this well-written series
