Miss Merula Merriweather unlike other Victorian ladies has developed an interested in strange creatures. Thankfully her uncle and his family with which she lives protect her interest. Unfortunately at a zoological lecture, the guest of honour, Lady Sophia, dies and her uncle is arrested. Merula and very new friend Lord Royston seem determined to find the real culprit.
An enjoyable and good start to this new series, though I didn't always like Merula. An easy to read story which introduces the new characters well. There now seems to be an established team ready for the next mystery.

A Little Encouragement: A Pride and Prejudice variation by Margaret Gale

In this P&P variation, at the Netherfield Ball Jane takes to heart Charlotte Lucas' warning about not showing more affection to Bingley than other gentlemen. Prompted by overhearing Caroline and Loiusa talking, Jane takes action. But what of Darcy and Elizabeth.
An interesting premise and an enjoyable story.

Hard Cider Abbey by K.P. Cecala

Brother Odo has arrived from Quebec, the last of his order, to join the Holy Face Monastery in West Virginia. Near to the monastery he meets Brother Emerick and shows him the body he has discovered of a monk, Brother Lucian. Emerick is convinced that Lucian has been murdered and is determined to prove it.
Although well-written, and an enjoyable mystery I didn't find myself totally engaged by the story. Still a good solid start to a new series.

When a big storm approaches rookie Police Constable Sarah Gladstone decides to stay with her mother in case she needs help. Soon the village of Sunbury is cut off and the local priest has gone missing. Soon his body is found and Sarah has to find the murderer without any backup.
I do admit to getting frustrated with Gladstone's character but overall an enjoyable story.

With this Pride and Prejudice sequel it is now the turn of Catherine (Kitty) Bennet to have her happy ending, but it does not always run smoothly. The story also tells the tale of Anne de Bourgh.

When Paul Davis, an executive is found dead in the boardroom of ACC the rest of the board declare it was suicide. Schiller and his new partner Dick Waverly are not convinced.
An enjoyable and easy to read mystery. Though I would have preferred to have less of the personal side of the detectives in the story.

In this Pride and Prejudice sequel several years have passed since Charlotte married Mr. Collins. But now she is concerned when one of the Rosings's maids, Mary Booth, seems to be more than suffering from a broken heart. Charlotte is determined to solve the mystery and maybe help her own loneliness, and her sense of still being an outsider in this parish.
A delightful whodunnit with a cast of familiar characters plus a few new ones.
