In this P&P variation, the Netherfield Ball and the marriage proposal of Collins to Elizabeth Bennet have occurred. Both Elizabeth and Collins have left Longbourn that very morning, only for the body of Collins to be found, stabbed, and for a distraught and battered Elizabeth to arrive back at Longbourn.
Darcy on hearing the news engages Alexander Lyons to investigate. Meanwhile Mary is determined to prove her sister innocent.
A delightful and well-written mystery and romance, lovely to see Mary Bennet come out of the shadows. A very enjoyable well-written variation and a re-read.
