Now and Then Stab by Anna Castle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
1593 Francis Bacon is at the moment out of favour with the Queen, and Thomas Clarady needs money to sue for his livery in the Court of Wards. So he is pleased to see a reward offered by the Lord Mayor for the author of a ballad that incites violence against foreign refugees. For this he will need the help of Bacon as the document has been suppressed. But there is more to this than at first seems. Can all be well at the end.
An enjoyable and well-written mystery with its likeable characters. Another very good addition to the series which can be read as a standalone story.
Received an ARC from the author
