1880 London. Lavinia Howard has hopes of being a mystery writer, to this end family friend Dr Malcolm Allopp gives her story to a publisher of penny dreadfuls, Jasper Courtenay. But after publication it seems her crimes are being reenacted. Detective Chief Inspector Harrison Bryce is assigned to investigate.
More of a romance, and less of a mystery rather than wholly a mystery.
