My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Ballater 1830s. Thomas Torrence wants to build the new Episcopalian chapel on his land, for his own convenience, but the result of the build would destroy a standing stone. Because of this he is receiving threatening letters, so he believes. Then a body is discovered at the stone. Then the next day a farmer dies after been attacked in the same area.
Another entertaining and well-written historical mystery story in this series. Which can easily be read as a standalone tale.
