The Hidden Hand of Death by Lawrence J. Epstein
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
1942 Jack Ryder is a 'fixer' of problems which can involve murder. He waits for people to contact him in a cafe. The story several very short situations - a detective hires him to his missing married sister - he is asked by the FBI to infiltrate a suspect bookshop, possibly run by Nazis - also involves himself in tracking down a missing woman for some gangsters.
An interesting read
