1817 London. Because of his past misdemeanors, the reputation of William de Wendenal, Sheriff of Nottingham, is not high with society. But then he becomes injured in preventing an attack on the Prince Regent. But who was the shooter really aiming at. Events lead various people into danger, but who's reputation will suffer the most. Can the sheriff find redemption.
An entertaining historical tale with its story of romance and mystery. Also with its cast of likeable characters, which all contributed to make this a good start to the series.
