The Devereaux Affair by Adele Clee
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Childhood friends Bennet Devereaux and Julianne de Lacey, daughter of a notorious courtesan, meet again 17 years later in 1824 when as a Marquess, Bennet seeks the help of The Order as he has received several death threats. He is assigned Julianne and together they travel to Witherdeen Hall in Hampshire to begin the investigation.
An entertaining well-written historical mystery and romance (with mature content), with its likeable characters. A good start to the new series.
