1883 Cook Kat Holloway's friend Samuel Millburn has been accused of embezzlement of his employer's funds, the Daalman Bank, and the murder of one of their bankers, and has consequently been arrested. Kat believes in his innocence and investigates with the help of her friends.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its cast of likeable and varied characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.
