When Lord Edward Stonham kills his opponent in a duel he is forced to flee to the country and assume a new identity, all arranged with foresight by his father. Due to reduced circumstances Miss Penelope Bradshaw decides to seek employment as a housekeeper at his new home. But soon she discovers his secret. Could be a possible happy ending for them.
An enjoyable well-written romance with a hint of mystery, but the ending did seem a bit rushed and left a few things unfinished.
