While the permanent cook and friend is away on holiday Jenny Starling has agreed to work at the Spindlewood Inn in Caulcott Deeping for owners Richard and Muriel Sparkey. Her first assignment is to prepare the food for a 'Regency Extravaganza' weekend. Jenny is hopeful that the weekend will go off without a death. Unfortunately she is proved wrong and D.I. Thomas Franklyn is called in to investigate. Though he is intelligent enough to realise that Jenny can be a help and not a hindrance
Another enjoyable well-written cozy mystery in this delightful series, which can easily be read as a standalone story.
