In this Emma sequel, Jane Fairfax is now married to Caleb Armitage, a Bow Street Runner. He and Jane have been approached to help solve two problems. One being determining who a Mrs Fielding and her daughter Cora really are. Are they worthy of being introduced into society, and if not how have they managed it. And secondly, there seems to be an unnatural number of deaths of wealthy people not expected to die so soon. Why is this happening and is there a murderer hiding in plain sight.
Another very enjoyable well-written mystery in this series.
