In this Victorian Gothic story Arthur Hamilton is in need of money, and so he sells his daughter Clara off in marriage to his step-nephew, owner of the Windemere Hall estate, Branson Hamilton. But what is Branson's motive for the marriage, what secrets to they all hide.
An enjoyable story, though the story does not conclude as it is only the first part of a trilogy.
