1889. Inspector Samuel Ravenscroft, Whitechapel Constabulary, is ordered to take a holiday from his duties, in Malvern, to take the waters. On the train he meets a Mr Jabez Pitzer, of Malvern, who invites him to dinner. Unfortunately just before the dinner, a death occurs, which he pronounces to be murder. He is asked by Constable Crabb to lead the investigation. But this is not the last murder, but what is the motive and connection between the deaths.
An enjoyable historical mystery
