A sequel to Jane Austen's Emma where Jane Fairfax has married Frank Churchill but the marriage is not as happy as she hoped. So when Jane is informed of his murder she wishes to know who the murderer is but is not vastly upset considering his treatment of her.
Helping a Bow Street Runner, Caleb Armitage, they work to find out who and why.
Some of the characters spoke in the language 'cant' which I did find offputting and slowed the story for me, but this was easier on this second read.
