1890 Leeds. The gas workers are on strike but the company is bringing in replacement workers. Tension is high in the city. Meanwhile DI Tom Harper is looking for a missing child and trying to solve several murders.
An enjoyable historical mystery, well-written with its likeable characters. A good start to the series.
