The Mystery of the Murderous Boots by T.E. Scott
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
1922 London. One of American Renie Brien's customers states that she thinks she may have killed her husband. When they arrive at her home the body has disappeared, or is she disillusional. Superintendent Mrs Sophia Stanley and Renie investigate, though there are a limited number of suspects.
Unfortunately Renie thinks too well of herself and this doesn't make her that likeable.
Overall an enjoyable mystery.
