Brian, Lord Whittenham is invited for the weekend by old friend Arnold Lewes. Tension arrives from the various famiies, and the dynamics within the family. But also Arnold's obsession with a witch, hanged in 1765, her body disappearing, and what of the disposal of her child. Is there a supernatural element in their lives or is it mental anguish.
An entertaining read.
