Has lawyer Sawyer been finally found out. But what of Superintendent Tiplady, who on returning from his honeymoon realises he knows the victim of Lazurus's latest case. His sister Martha Tiplady is convinced that newcomer Trefgarn, a Magus, is a fraud and should be removed from the area.
An entertaining historical mystery, another good addition to this enjoyable series.
