London 1840. Lady Caroline Morton receives news that there is a claimant to the vacant title of the Rarl of Morton. Left unclaimed since the death if her father. Her employer Mrs Frogerton invites this family, the Scuttons, to stay until the claim is verified. Then the sister is murdered and her husband and his brother implicated. Inspector Ross investigates while Caroline and Mrs Frogerton ask questions.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its likeable main characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.
