My rating: 4 of 5 stars
1829. Due to a recent illness the Underwoods holiday in Dacorum-in-the-Marsh, which is close to West Wimpleford, so Underwood was able to re-acquaint himself with old friends. And make new ones like the French lady Violette Molyneux. When back in Hanbury arrangements have started to celebrate the birthday of their friend Major Thornycroft and cope with the influx of his old friends and comrades. But then the first of the soldiers is found murdered.
Another enjoyable mystery in this well-written series with its very likeable characters
