The Dead Came Calling by J.L. Buck
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
October 1812 London. Andrew Sherbourne has an unexpected visitor from his time in France working as a British agent. That of Maria Pembroke and her young daughter. Suspicion falls on him when Maria is discovered dead. Leading him to go into hiding while fellow spy Lucien Grey leads the investigation to prove him innocent and find the murderer before it's too late.
An entertaining and well-written Regency mystery with its cast of likeable and varied characters. It is another good addition to this enjoyable series.
