My rating: 3 of 5 stars
1993. Peter Maxwell Head of the Sixth Form, returning from his holiday discovers one of his pupils has been murdered. Caring or just bored he decides to investigate, but obviously not as intelligent as he thinks he is. Seems a bit of an idiot the way he runs his private life. Is he likeable? Not at the moment. Can he escape being charged with the murder and the subsequent killing.
Overall an enjoyable mystery. Will see if he improves in Book 2
