March 1884. Leonora Spencer is attending the Striker's Wharf nightclub when one of the female customers dies. It is newly wed Mrs Gabriela Carter, wife to gang member Andrew, caused by arsenic poisoning. D.I. Jasper Reid is given the case to investigate. With help from Leonora. Reid is also still concerned about a recent Jane Doe death.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its likeable main characters supported by a cast of varied personalities. A good addition to this enjoyable series.
