Mrs Craven volunteers the services of Kitty and Matt to the Favershams of Marksham Hall, to discreetly investigate the disappearance of maid Agnes, younger sister to Mrs Craven's maid. They will attend a engagement ball of the eldest son to a wealthy American heiress who hopefully will resolve all their financial problems.
An entertaining and well-written historical mystery with its likeable main characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.
